In many ways, dressing is harder for Emo girls than it is for boys–but it can be a lot more exciting too! The main to remember is that you must dress and look non-conformist. You can dye your hair the traditional black, or go for a stark blonde. A bog-cut is also good. Another good suggestion is to get horn-rimmed glasses (no thick, black frames please). As for your clothes, for girls, skin-tight is the order of the day, regardless of how big or small you are. Generally, you should wear jeans or pants that are dark. Or, in place of pants, a goth-style skirt will work, as long as it’s tight enough. A banded-collar t-shirt is a good look to wear with the jeans or skirt. For shoes, most Emo girls go with Converses or Vans.

If you feel the urge, decorate them with pen or permanent marker. Finally, no Emo girl look is complete without black eyeliner and other dark makeup. Don’t overdo it though. These are the basics to achieve a proper Emo girl look.

Emo Clothes - What Are Emo Trends in the year 2008

Like any other style, Emo clothing styles vary from season to season. So what’s in style this year? Some holdovers from previous years that are style in fashion include v-necks, Quicksilver jeans, striped polo shirts, and of course, Converse and Van shoes.  Also, checkerboard patterns are still popular.  Pirate skulls are a fairly new trend, due to the popularity of the various pirate movies that have been released in the past few years (Black skulls for boys, pink for girls).

One thing that has picked up steam is the idea of colored shoelaces. Some go as far as to make them mismatched.  T-shirts are good additions to your wardrobe, as long as they have a funny slogan that you feel makes a statement about you.  Studded belts are maintaining their popularity. And for girls, consider adding a long, lean tube top to your closet.

What’s the Truth About Emo History

It’s honestly hard to pick out an incident or person as the one single origin of Emo. If you try to trace it to one particular rock band, they will state that they don’t even consider themselves Emo, so it’s a confusing subject. But for our purposes, let’s look at the traditional explanation: Most people trace the movement back to 1984 when Rites of Spring, a punk rock band, began performing in D.C. The lead singer departed from most other punk music by producing songs that practically oozed with emotional words. This made it more acceptable for those in the punk-rock community to be open about their feelings–and so, other bands soon followed.

This music reached more and more young people, and these youth became fond of both the performers’ style of dress and their willingness to expose the emotions they felt. Both singers and fans who responded positively to this “emotional” punk music became known as “Emotionals” or “Emotives”–”Emos” for short.

When you are refering to someone has being emo, you are usually are stating that they are sensitive, or have a emotional personality. emo truely is a type of music that started in the eightys and is rapidly moving back in its popularity. It's a sub genre of punk music which has grown to be more popular then punk it's self. Each and every day more and more emo bands are coming out. However, emo most commonly is refered to as a type of fashion.
